“ EBEN-EZER” = “Thus far the Lord has helped us” (1 Sam. 7:12 ) . Yes, this is the honest confession we can make as we share with you the grand testimony of the vision, birth and growth of our assembly-“ Ebenezer Hennur Road Brethren Fellowship”(EHRBF). As you read through the pages of this website and see the pictures, we are sure that your hearts will be moved and you will become our strong prayer partners.
BIRTH OF EHRBF:
In the year 1997, God in His grace planted EHRBF.The human instruments God used to establish this assembly were Brother P.B.Simon and his dear wife Annamma Simon.
BACKGROUND FOR EHRBF:
The SIMONS were in secular jobs before they became fully involved in the Lords ministry.while in their jobs, they had witnessed the love of christ to their colleagues. As they continued to share the Gospel of Christ in different parts of Bangalore city, it pleased God to use them for the planting of four churches in Bangalore, along with few other saints of God who gave them support and assistance.( That history is given on the PROFILE page). Those assemblies are today, shining bright for our Lord, led by able and spiritual elders and deacons.

In the year 1993, the Lord called Simon and his wife to be full time ministers for the Lord and His church. They obeyed this call, trusting completely in the Lord for all their needs, without any assurance of any support from any source. That was a step of “launching out into the deep” by faith. God honoured their implicit obedience and EHRBF is one of the fruits God gave to this obedient couple.Even after resigning from their jobs, the SIMONS continued to labour for the formation and growth of the assemblies in different parts of Bangalore. In their urge to do more for the Lord, the Simons started outreach ministries in some new areas of Bangalore- Kothannur, Narayanpura, Thannisandra, Nagavara and Hennur. The Lord gave them the harvest of souls.
On April 27, 1997 the first fellowship of EHRBF was started in the classroom of a Government school in Thannisandra, with just three families. As numbers increased, more room was needed and we moved to a rented building on Hennur Main Road.The church prayed earnestly for a land and a building of our own. God heard our prayers. In 2004 we were able to purchase a land and construct a prayer hall with asbestos roofing at Hennur Main Road. This was possible because of the financial support we received from God’s saints in India and abroad. We moved to this building on October 9, 2004 and to this day, EHRBF gathers in this hall.
GROWTH OF EHRBF:
The small assembly of EHRBF continued to be active in sharing the Gospel to many homes and people in various parts of Bangalore. The Lord blessed His Word and encouraged the saints by bringing in more souls, “the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved”. (Acts:2:47). When we had prepared this web page, nearly one hundred people were gathering regularly for worship and other services at the EHRBF. A good number of them are from Hindu background, while we also have people from Muslim and Roman Catholic backgrounds. Several backsliders were restored to the Lord and His Church. Many broken families were united . God is glorified in this assembly.
EHRBF has a growing fellowship of young people , “EBENEZER YOUTH FELLOWSHIP” (EYF) and a talented church choir. The Sunday school is growing day after day. The EBENEZER WOMEN FELLOWSHIP (EWF), Ebenezer Monthly Cottage Fellowship (EMCF), Ebenezer Weekly Bible Study Fellowship (EWBF) are some of the main highlights of this assembly.
In recent years, God has blessed our assembly with some able teachers who are filled with God’s Word and Spirit. Their expository preaching at the Sunday Service, exploring of the hidden treasures in the Word during the Bible studies, and the efficient handling of doctrines have helped us grow into more dynamic and warm spirited assembly. The post worship fellowship among the believers is very refreshing which we all look forward to every Sunday. The spirit of love, mutual care and strong unity of Apostolic times are clearly manifested in EHRBF.
“ Remember all the way the Lord thy God led thee” (Deut.8:2) is the commitment of the assembly as this page is written. The determination of our assembly is , “ I will remember the works of the Lord , surely I will remember thy wonders of old” ( Psalm.77:11)
THE FRAGRANCE OF EHRBF:
Bangalore is known as the “GARDEN CITY OF INDIA”. True to its meaning, God has given us the opportunity to produce spiritual flowers that bloomed and groomed in this local assembly. They are from all walks of life, religions and races. Bangalore is also known as the “SILICON VALLEY OF INDIA” because it is one of the top tech cities in the world. People come to Bangalore for short periods of time for studying and for jobs in BPO centers. Then they go out to other parts of India and even to different parts of the world.
EHRBF gets that kind of membership in the church, a fluctuating number of members. They remain for few years and move on to other places because of their change in job situations.But we rejoice in the fact that these believers continue to spread ‘the fragrance’ of the Lord in places like United States, Arabian Countries and different parts of India. So we join with Apostle Paul and testify, “ Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest in Christ the savor of His knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are saved , and in them that perish”. ( 2 Cor.2:14,15)
THE STRENGTH AND COURAGE OF EHRBF:
During the infancy of this assembly, we had to face manifold trials, persecutions and hardships from the world, as EHRBF continued to share the Gospel and win souls for His Kingdom. Added to that, EHRBF and its leaders faced untold oppositions, allegations, ridicules, judgment of motives and slanders from within the Christian fold, our brethren in Christ. This was mainly because of the uncompromising stand that was taken by the assembly and the firm determination to follow the scriptural principles in doctrines and practice. while many congregations were seeking bigger numbers by diluting the Gospel and making unbiblical tolerations in matters of Christian ethics and Biblical morality. Some of the baseless allegations are passed on to the new comers , which hinder and hurt this growing assembly.
However, our faithful God stood with us , encouraged us and enabled us to be brave and strong in Him. We can again claim boldly along with Apostle Paul , “ No man stood with me, but all men forsook me,……….Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me , and strengthened me….”( 2 Tim. 4:16,17). God gave holy boldness to this small assembly to challenge the enemy, “ If God is for us who can be against us?” (Rom.8:31). Our Almighty God gave the confidence to EHRBF and its leaders to declare, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:13). So EHRBF go marching on to greater heights. To this we give thanks and praises to our merciful God. Being pressed , squeezed and crushed from every direction the spiritual, mature response from Brother Simon came out in beautiful songs and that is produced and distributed in Audio CD form and under the title “UPANIDHI”. THE VISION OF EHRBF:
The EHRBF and its leaders ( servants of God’s Church) look forward in great anticipation , trusting the Lord for guidance and provisions to fulfill the vision stated below:-
(1) To train missionaries, send them to pioneer fields, support them and help them plant churches where no churches exist. (Rom:15:20) “Reach the Unreached” is the motto of EHRBF.
(2) To establish a Bible Institute where emphasis will be to produce for Evangelism and Church planting and also Bible preachers who can stand against the onslaught of false doctrines.
(3) To open and operate a Library and reading room.
(4) To conduct VBS for children, Conferences for Women and Youths and also annual convention for the Church.
(5) To print , publish and distribute good Christian literature that deals with Gospel messages, Christian growth studies and books that defend the faith , especially exposing the false doctrines and cults.
God will speak to you dearly beloved, as you read through the pages of this website. That will challenge you , inspire you and also enable you to become our prayer partners and will strengthen your hands to extend fellowship in the work of the Lord, in whatever way you can.
